Proposal

Mechanical Proposal

NMUSA contains many noise sensitive spaces. To ensure the noise does not travel between rooms an analysis of the NC of each room will be conducted. My proposed mechanical ideas will have an impact on the ductwork within the museum. To ensure my proposed changes don’t have any adverse effects, it is necessary to analyze the acoustics of NMUSA.

Acoustical Breadth

Changes within the mechanical system have a large impact on the electrical system. The addition of a ground source heat pump will require the addition of extra pumps and heat exchangers, which will all require additional electrical energy. Depending on the number and size of these pieces of equipment, it is necessary to analyze the electrical system to properly upsize any equipment that is directly affected by these changes.

Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewith is considered a work‐in progress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Nicholas Bast. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design.

I would like to thank and give credit to the Army Historical Foundation and SOM for the beautiful renderings of the National Museum of the United States Army.
